Dr. Rizvi completed his Internal Medicine Residency training from Weill Medical College of Cornell University, St. Barnabas Hospital, New York where he was awarded 'Resident of the year' award for his exceptional overall clinical care. He completed his Gastroenterology & Hepatology Fellowship from Medical College of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI. He is an accomplished Academic physician who was voted the inaugural 'Konrad Soergel teacher of the year' by his training fellows in WI. He has published and presented his research in many international meetings and journals. Before relocating to Texas he served as an Assistant Medical Director of Liver Transplant Program at MCW and developed several treatment protocols to help manage complex liver diseases. As a Director of Hepatology Program at VA Medical Center, Milwaukee, WI he treated over 1000 Veterans in a fiscal year with chronic hepatitis C.
Dr. Rizvi is passionate about treating patients in the most respectful and compassionate way. He believes in active listening and strongly believes in engaging patients in treatment decisions.
Dr. Rizvi is experienced in diagnosing and treating complex Gastrointestinal and Liver disorders including Functional bowel disorders, Inflammatory bowel disease such as Crohn's disease and Ulcerative Colitis, Microscopic colitis, Acid reflux, Chronic constipation, Eosinophilic esophagitis, Swallowing disorders and Liver disorders including treatment of Chronic Hepatitis C, Chronic Hepatitis B, Cirrhosis of the liver, Autoimmune hepatitis, Primary Biliary Cholangitis, Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis and treatment of complex liver diseases before and after their liver transplant.
In his spare time Dr. Rizvi loves to read, garden, take advantage of Austin weather and run, explore Hill country outdoors and enjoy time with his family.
